Making Queer liberation and food security possible through

Queer people, growing Queer things, in Queer places

We are a nonprofit community organization dedicated to uniting and empowering Queer communities to achieve self-sustainability by growing their own food. At a time when Queer people face heightened disparities in food insecurity, and the global food system continues to harm our planet, our mission is to make it as accessible as possible for Queer individuals to cultivate food in any space.

Who are we?

Gay Gardens Start Up Program

Are you a queer-identifying person looking to grow your own food? No matter the size of your space, we're here to help! Starting a garden can be challenging, but our volunteers are ready to support you as you get started. The best way to learn is by doing, and we’re here to guide you through those first steps.

How It Works:

  1. Preliminary Meeting
We’ll gather essential information about your space, budget, and lifestyle to determine how best to support you.

  2. Research Phase
We’ll conduct research to design the most cost-effective and eco-friendly plan tailored to your space and needs.

  3. Budget Phase
We’ll discuss your budget and explore funding options or low-cost alternatives to make your garden dream a reality.

  4. Volunteer Phase
If you’re open to it and we have the volunteer resources, we’ll come to your site and help you set up!
